An architect turned visual artist, Ambie Abaño (b. 1967) considers her chosen practice as an inherent responsiveness to what she considers a calling. Her passion in printmaking led to the creation of portraits and figures in various mixed media print works, sculptures, and installations, always originating from traditional printmaking techniques.

Amongst her achievements, that include the Grand Prize in the Painting Category of the Art Association of the Philippines Open Art Competition in 1987 and the Grand Prize in the Philippine Art Awards in 2006. She was the recipient of Artist Residency program in Cité International des Art in Paris, La Taille Douce (France) and the International Studio and Curatorial Program and the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in New York.

She has exhibited extensively in the Philippines and abroad from 1986.
